Job Summary
The Benefits Manager is responsible for the overall supervision and administration of Hogan’s benefit programs and plans including welfare and 401k.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervises the analysis, evaluation, communication, implementation and administration of a variety of employee benefit programs
- Ensures compliance with all applicable legal requirements regarding various welfare and 401k plans including federal, state and government regulatory filings and processes (i.e. 5500s, SPDs, SARs, audits, non-discrimination testing, ACA, etc.)
- Maintain and supervise welfare benefit programs (including, but not limited to, health, dental, vision, life, disability, Aflac, HSAs, HRAs, FSAs, EAP, and PTO)
- Manages FMLA process and any state leave regulations
- Ensures insurance invoices are audited, accurate, and paid timely
- Ensure employee payroll deductions are accurate
- Serves as main contact with Work & Well for COBRA administration
- Develops and administers a employee benefits education strategy
- Manages the open enrollment process
- Resolves escalated benefit issues from employees or providers
- Ensures proper benefits enrollment (or disenrollment) for new hires, status changes and separation
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to employee benefits
- Ensures HRIS (ADP Workforce Now) and all subcomponents are working efficiently and accurately
- Creates reports, as needed, for others within the department or other internal customers
- Ensures confidential information is protected.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration or related field required. Master’s preferred
- 4+ years benefits administration experience including welfare and 401k benefits
- Experience in an organization with a multi-state, multi-site operations
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now preferred
- Strong understanding of welfare benefit programs including 401k
- Good business acumen
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong listening skills
- Strong negotiation skills
- Union experience preferred
- Strong Excel skills
- Proficient in Microsoft products including Word and PowerPoint
