Job Summary

UPS is searching for a proven communications practitioner to join the team as the Communications Strategy Manager of ESG and Sustainability Communications. This position is responsible for shepherding integrated communications execution and ensuring seamless storytelling across UPS's earned and owned channels with a focus on all things ESG and sustainability including DEI, social impact, environmental sustainability, volunteerism, corporate giving and community relations. The position serves as a communications subject matter expert in ESG and sustainability and is an integral contributor to the company's efforts to drive brand relevance with a focus on key storytelling priorities - environment, social impact, diversity, equity, inclusion and more.

Responsibilities

• leads and supports integrated communications planning, taking into account multiple projects and subject matters while amplifying key messages for holistic storytelling


• develops cross-channel communications strategies, leads media relations planning efforts and manages project workflow through to final deliverables for ESG and sustainability


• target key internal and external audiences around the world and recommends appropriate content and channels to effectively reach those audiences


• ideal candidate has proven experience and organizational skills and will effectively flex across multiple disciplines: strategic communications planning, media relations, stakeholder engagement, content strategy, writing/editing, creative thinking and project management


• performs editorial reviews to ensure deliverables meet UPS style guidelines


• understand analytics and adjust strategies/optimizing content to impact likelihood to recommend and brand relevance, among other measures


• build strong relationships across a matrixed team of stakeholders, may direct the work of agency partners, and may directly manage others

Preferences

• Minimum of four years' experience working as a communications practitioner


• Knowledge and previous experience in purpose, ESG, DEI, sustainability communications


• Has knowledge of digital channel platforms and technology


• Demonstrates strong writing and editing skills as well as collaboration and negotiation skills


• Understands communications strategy on a global scale
