Position Overview: The Payroll Supervisor oversees the payroll department, ensuring properly run and completed payrolls, accurate payroll reports, and timely payroll processes as well as resolving any related issues. The Supervisor also supports the Payroll Director and employees by answering department questions, rectifying errors, and maintaining a focused effort of proactively improving payroll processes. This includes assisting the Payroll Director with internal departmental training as needed.


Essential Job Functions



  • Process payroll to include review of timecards while ensuring compliance with company policies

  • Supervise the weekly payroll processes for multiple companies within the enterprise

  • Ensure weekly payroll for each company is in balance and validate compliance processes

  • Process wage assignments and legal levies against wages and ensure timely payment to courts

  • Audit and maintain employees' master file for changes, new hires, and terminations

  • Resolve and troubleshoot issues in a clear, professional manner

  • Partner with Payroll Director to provide guidance and support for departmental needs

  • Suggest and/or assist in implementing proactive process improvements

  • Partner with Payroll Director to develop and maintain procedures that help to minimize errors and streamline departmental processes and procedures, including updated and new SOPs

  • Conduct all business in a highly ethical manner, exhibiting behavior, practices, and standards that uphold IMC core values

  • Perform other duties as assigned


Job Requirements



  • 3+ years of qualifying work experience in ADP Workforce Now, ADP Time and Attendance, ADP App; other payroll systems a plus

  • Must have a strong payroll background and be detailed oriented

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and delegate to accomplish competing priorities

  • Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and/or procedures

  • Multi-state payroll knowledge to include California

  • Ability to effectively communicate, train, and supervise others

  • Ability to show sensitivity, tact, and professionalism with a goal of maintaining the department's integrity

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work within a team environment

  • Process improvement leader and change advocate

  • Some college a plus; Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required

  • Supervisory experience a plus


Other Skills / Abilities



  • Advanced Excel skills with knowledge of setting up and navigating through pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Suite

  • Assist as needed with month end processes and general ledger posting

  • CPP certification is a plus
